Councillor Tim Overall - Mayor

Tim OverallCr Tim Overall was first elected to Queanbeyan City Council in 2004 and elected Mayor 2008. He has an Economics Degree ANU, and during 1969-72 served as a 2nd Lieutenant AIF.

Mr Overall has 25 years experience in Senior Management having held the roles of Operations Director, McIlwraith Ltd (Mining, Transport), Managing Director Singapore Shipping Corporation and CEO Ambulance Service of NSW. On relocating back to the region in 1996, he was appointed Executive Director Australian Red Cross in Canberra. He has served as Chairman, Havelock Community Housing, Board Chair, Australian Technical College and is currently on the Queanbeyan Development Board and the Canberra Business Council (Regional Representative).

Mr Overall has been a volunteer with Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and Rotary. From 2002-06 he raised over $100,000 for emergency equipment for our Hospital, the local Ambulance Service and for the Queanbeyan Children’s Special Needs Group.

CR Overall ran for Mayor in 2008 on the theme - A Fresh Approach and a New Direction for Queanbeyan/Jerrabomberra. His focus continues to be on:

  • Delivering on infrastructure- roads, footpaths, sports facilities, cycleways.
  • Implementing the CBD Master Plan, creating a people friendly vibrant city centre and the Crawford Street lifestyle precinct.
  • Sensitive town centre redevelopment and encouraging a cinema complex.
  • Good governance, financial and environmental sustainability.
  • Guiding Queanbeyan’s long term Residential and Economic Strategy.
