The inaugural Queanbeyan Business Excellence Awards were held at The Q on Saturday 10 September 2011 and Northfork Chemicals was named the inaugural winner of the Queanbeyan Business of the Year award,
More than 100 people attended the awards presentation evening in the foyer of The Q and Northfork Chemicals was ecstatic to be named winner of the overall award. Northfork Chemicals specialises in the manufacture of quality assured and value for money products in a safe and environmentally aware workplace. “We source GreenPower renewable energy for our manufacturing facility, and have recently introduced Sustainable Land Cleaning Solutions range to further highlight our commitment to caring for the environment.”
“Northfork Chemicals is an outstanding business and I congratulate them on their success at the Queanbeyan Business Excellence Awards,” Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said.
A further five awards were presented on the night and the winners were:
• Retail, wholesale and distribution – Queanbeyan Chainsaws and Garden Equipment
• Tourism, hospitality, events – Queanbeyan Riverside Tourist Park
• Construction, manufacturing processing – Chincivil Pty Ltd
• Trades, professions and services - Parkhill Financial Group
• Capital Region BEC microbusiness – Benedict House
“Queanbeyan has some great businesses and the list of winners really emphasises that,” Cr Overall said. “I congratulate all of the award winners and also the other businesses which were nominated for awards on the night.”
The Queanbeyan Business Excellence Awards were developed by a committee featuring representatives from the Queanbeyan Business Council and the Capital Region Business Enterprise Centre.
Committee chairperson Cr Sue Whelan congratulated the award winners and thanked the committee, sponsors and businesses for their assistance in making the inaugural awards a success.
“A lot of hard work went into the development of these awards and I would like to acknowledge the assistance of my fellow committee members and the Council representatives who assisted with the event,” Cr Whelan said.
“Of course the night would not have happened without the support of our wonderful sponsors. I thank them for their assistance and hope our partnership can continue into the future.”
“And obviously a business awards night can’t be a success without businesses becoming involved and I thank all of those businesses who nominated for awards and congratulate the winners.”
