Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall has invited all of Queanbeyan to attend this year’s Carnivale, which celebrates Queanbeyan’s multicultural communities, at Queanbeyan Park on Sunday 22 February.
“The main street of Queanbeyan on any given day of the week reflects the wonderful cultural backgrounds many of us have come from. Cultural diversity gives our community depth and character,” Cr Overall said.
“Events like Carnivale contribute to the harmony and tolerance in our community and allows different cultures to share their heritage with others. Over 25 groups will perform and there will be many cultural delights in the Festival’s Multicultural Food Market,” he said.
This year there will be cuisine from Sri Lanka, the Australia Mon Association, Turkey, Indonesia, Croatia, Greece and Macedonia. There will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained with a farm animal patting paddock, face painting, Indigenous craft, air brush tattooing, festival flower making, the Fire Brigade and information stalls. Queanbeyan City Council is proud to partner with the Queanbeyan Multicultural Centre in presenting this wonderful community cultural event.
The 2015 Carnivalé will be held on Sunday 22 February from 10am to 4pm at the Queanbeyan Park on Lowe Street – everyone welcome!
