Peter Tegart commences as Queanbeyan City Council's new General Manager

Queanbeyan City Council's new General Manager, Mr Peter Tegart has commenced employment.

Mr Tegart comes to Queanbeyan City Council with a wealth of local government experience and has most recently been employed in the Australian Public Service. Before joining the APS, Mr Tegart was the General Manager at Bega Valley Shire Council.

"I am really looking forward to my time at Queanbeyan City Council and having met with councillors and the majority of staff I am confident that we have the right make up of people to drive this organisation forward," Mr Tegart said.

"Queanbeyan is a very exciting place to be at the moment with new developments occurring in the south and west of the local government area and a number of other exciting and challenging projects.

"Local government is a very rewarding sector to work in as it is the closest level of government to the community and from my initial meetings I know staff at Queanbeyan City Council have a level of pride in their actions."

Mr Tegart replaces Acting General Manager Hugh Percy who returned to the organisation following the resignation of Mr Gary Chapman in September 2014.
