Get your vocal cords ready, it’s Carols in the Park time

9 December 2015
Nothing says Christmas like an evening of carols and a visit from Santa.

On Sunday 20 December 2015, Queanbeyan residents will be treated to a fantastic evening of Christmas entertainment when the annual Carols in the Park are held in the Queanbeyan Park Sunken Garden on the corner of Lowe and Collett Sts.

“Carols in the Park is one of my favourite community events – the excitement of the small children when they see Santa Claus is something quite special,” Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said.

“Queanbeyan Park is the ideal location for such an event with the lovely grassed lawns and the shade provided by the trees. So why not pack a picnic, along with your best signing voice, and join us in Queanbeyan Park for the 2015 Carols in the Park.”

Carols in the Park kicks off at 5pm with a concert featuring well-known performers Ian Wholohan, former Karabar High student Sophie Hopkins, Impressions Dance and Fitness, Shiraz, the Canberra Brass Band and Rhythm Syndicate.

A special guest (Santa) is scheduled to arrive at 7.15pm, however his travel plans may be hampered by the busy Christmas traffic from the North Pole. Following Santa’s arrival and meet and greet with the youngsters, the Christmas carols will kick off with plenty of your favourite tunes.

Song books and glow sticks will be available on the night for a gold coin donation.. For more information on Carols in the Park, visit www.qcc.nsw.gov.au/carolsinthepark
