  • Queanbeyan Multicultural Festival at Queanbeyan Park (Sunday from 10am-4pm)Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament at Riverside Oval (Sunday, first match kicks off at 2pm, Mayor's Cup at 5pm)

"This weekend will be huge for Queanbeyan with five significant events to be held around the city, attracting thousands of locals and plenty of visitors to our city," Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said.

"The flow on effect to Queanbeyan's economy will be significant and Council welcomes all visitors for the weekend.  Credit must go to Council staff, especially those in the Parks and Recreation section who have been working extremely hard to ensure Seiffert Oval, Taylor Park, the Queanbeyan Showground, Riverside Oval and Queanbeyan Park are in top condition."

"And having been to some of these venues over the past week I am very pleased with the job that has been done. On top of that, the CBD is looking fantastic with garden beds along Monaro St and Crawford St looking stunning."

The Raiders v Knights trial and the Relay for Life will combine on Saturday morning when players from both NRL teams will walk along Monaro St before arriving at the Queanbeyan Showground to help launch the 2015 Relay for Life.

Charities will also be beneficiaries from the weekend's events with gold coin donations from entry to the Mayor's Cup going to Camp Quality and the Relay for Life will support the Cancer Council.

"This will be a great weekend for Queanbeyan and I encourage locals to get involved," Cr Overall said.

"We are expecting more than 6,000 spectators at the NRL trial match at Seiffert Oval, while big crowds are also expected for the Relay for Life, Rugby Sevens, Multicultural Festival and Mayor's Cup."
