Council set to address pedestrian crossing points

11 June 2015

Queanbeyan City Council is set to address pedestrian crossing points on Crawford and Antill Streets.

The areas being considered include:

  • Crawford St: at the front of the Aldi supermarket; or at the front of the medical clinic; or at the front of Kingsley’s Chicken.
  • Antill St: near the entry and exit to the Woolworths carpark.

Council has commenced consulting with the community regarding possible designs for street crossings in these areas and is asking the community to complete a quick survey about their needs for improving safety and access when crossing the street at these points.

The survey closes on Friday 31 July.

You can view the initial designs and complete the survey at qccoldsite.staging.elcomcms.com/Community-Consultation/Improvements-to-Pedestrian-Facilities The designs provide examples of the type of work being considered and the proposed locations. Surveys and designs are also available from Council’s Customer Service Desk at 257 Crawford St and at the Queanbeyan City Library at 6 Rutledge St.

Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said putting in place measures to improve street crossings will help to make this busy shopping precinct safer for pedestrians. “I encourage all those people who use this area to have a say in these positive plans.”
