Queanbeyan artist Claire Primrose has won her second Queanbeyan City Council Regional Art Award.

Ms Primrose, who also won the award in 2009, was presented with the 2015 award by Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall at the opening of the exhibition at The Q's Exhibition Space last night. Ms Primrose's mixed media painting 'Not quite ready for snow' was judged the best of the 38 entries by guest judge and experienced artist Adelin Chin.

Fellow Queanbeyan artist and first-time Art Award entrant, Bradley Santos claimed the Highly Commenced Award for his mixed media artist book 'Erritmo Zaborraren'.

"Congratulations to Claire on winning this prestigious award for the second time in the past six years, this is quite an achievement," Cr Overall said. "The Queanbeyan City Council; Regional Art Award has once again proven to be a popular event with 38 entries received across a range of mediums.

"Having seen the range and quality of the pieces, I would encourage the community to come along to The Q and view the entries."

All 38 entries will be on display in The Q's Exhibition Space until 22July. During that time, visitors can vote on the $500 People's Choice Award.
