Public exhibition of proposed Ellerton Drive Extension Species Impact Statement addendum

An addendum to the draft Species Impact Statement (SIS), which includes a draft offset strategy, for the proposed Ellerton Drive Extension is being finalised and will be placed on public exhibition when complete. The community will be given advanced notice of the exhibition dates when the document is finalised.

The design for the proposed road has been progressively developed since the original SIS was exhibited for public comment in late 2014 and early 2015 and now includes areas for construction compounds, stockpile areas, access tracks and erosion and sediment control for construction. These details have added to the project footprint and have resulted in the requirement to produce a SIS addendum.

The additional area includes termite terrain which provides nesting habitat for the Rosenberg’s Goanna, which is classified as vulnerable.  A draft strategy to offset the environmental impacts created by the new design will also be addressed in the addendum.

An independent consultant has been assessing all exhibited documents to date; these include the Review of Environmental Factors, the Species Impact Statement and the preliminary design, together with the draft Submissions Report. The consultant will also consider any new submissions that Council receives during the public exhibition of the SIS addendum.

The consultant will then prepare a draft Determination Report with recommendations for referral to the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage for concurrence. Once this process is finalised, the Determination Report will be presented to Council for consideration.
