Cinema Masterplan and Carparking Strategy on public exhibition

Queanbeyan City Council has placed the Queanbeyan Cinema Masterplan and Carparking Strategy on public exhibition.

The draft document was developed by Stewart Architecture and provides a high level concept of a cinema complex operating in the Morisset St carpark and its impact on parking in the CBD.

“In viewing the Masterplan, it’s important to remember that this is merely a concept of what may be possible, the design and exact location of the building would be subject to final design, development applications and much more planning,” Queanbeyan Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said.

“Following the public exhibition phase and endorsement of the Masterplan, Council plans to seek expressions of interest for a mixed-use development, incorporating a cinema on the Morisset St site.

“Council is seeking feedback from the community, specifically the development recommendations on pages 44-48 and the Carparking Strategy on pages 49-53 of the draft document.”

The Masterplan was developed after Council received a feasibility study on potential development sites within the CBD and agreed that its preferred location for a cinema complex was the Morisset St carpark.

The Queanbeyan Cinema Masterplan and Carparking Strategy are on public exhibition from Monday 25 January until Monday 22 February 2016 and can be viewed at the following locations:

•    Queanbeyan City Council’s Customer Service Centre at 256 Crawford St between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday-Friday
