Council has set up a dedicated hotline for residents to assist in the fire recovery process - Telephone 6285 6900. There is also an email address for any online enquiries - firstname.lastname@example.org.
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has launched the Carwoola Bushfire Appeal in the wake of the devastating bushfire.Residents can make direct donations by depositing funds into the Carwoola Bushfire Appeal account BSB – 032724 Account No – 362257. Donations can also be made in person at Westpac branches. An account with the Bendigo Bank has now also been established so residents can give at their local branch: BSB: 633-000 ACC: 129106092, please use the description “donation” for this account.
Individuals wishing to donate items for fire-affected residents from the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council local government area can drop them off at Anglicare through the Bargain Hunter store on Monaro Street, Queanbeyan. People with offers of furniture or other bulky items should contact the recovery coordinators on the numbers listed above. It is important to note that where it becomes clear that donated items are surplus to the relief effort, those items will be managed by Anglicare in the same way as general donations and processed accordingly.

Council assistance information
At its meeting on 22 February, Council resolved the following:
- To donate $10,000 to the Carwoola Bushfire Appeal
- To provide an opportunity to affected property owners whose home has been destroyed or substantively damages to apply for the postponement of rates via Council's Hardship Policy
- Until a replacement dwelling is occupied, Council will meet any waste charges applied to a property where the dwelling has been destroyed or is unable to be occupied.
- That the following application fees associated with the construction of a placement dwelling or partial rebuild of a substantively damaged dwelling be met by the Council:
- Development application fees under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act
- Section 68 Activity application fees under the Local Government Act
- Any applicable notification fees
- That Council approach State Government about waiving the long service levy and planning levy fees payable at the time of lodging a development application for a replacement dwelling house for the current owner of the land.
- For a period of two months from the date of the fire, Council will cover the waste disposal charge at its Bungendore transfer facility for the disposal of general waste and debris generated as a direct result of the fire subject to that material not being contaminated with any form of asbestos material.

How does Council plan to distribute funds collected?
All funds received will be used to provide direct assistance to victims of the Carwoola bushfire. Council will not use any donated funds for administration or other Council purposes (e.g. infrastructure repairs).
How will Council decide who gets the funds?
Council has established a Carwoola Bushfire Appeal panel which consists of of Bill Warne - Council's Manager Legal and Risk, Max Shanahan - Chair of Audit Committee, Jamie Walker - President of Queanbeyan Lions and Shane Holness - Chair of Palerang Financial Services, operates Bendigo Community Banks at Braidwood and Bungendore.
