Queanbeyan City Council’s Tree Preservation Order applies to all trees with a height of three meters or greater or branch spread of three meters of greater. To ensure the long-term amenity afforded by trees in the environment of Queanbeyan, a Tree Preservation Order applies.
This Tree Preservation Order prohibits: Removal or pruning of any tree except with written consent of Council, and the owner of the tree/ property. The wilful damage or injuring of any tree including ringbarking or poisoning or the damage of tree roots.
Council has a Street Tree Plan for all streets within Queanbeyan. This plan will ensure that a green and uniform streetscape develops in years to come and is of fundamental importance to the future of property values in our area.
Whilst the involvement of residents in maintaining vegetation on road verges is greatly appreciated, planting of inappropriate species causes significant long-term detriment to the suburb in which it occurs. The impacts on road user vision, pedestrian movement, services, and the streetscape can be considerable. For more information about what species of plant are desirable and supported by Council, please contact
Council's Tree Preservation Officer on 02 6285 6144.
