Googong and Tralee Traffic Plan (2031)
In 2009 Queanbeyan City Council developed the Googong and Tralee Traffic Plan (2031). This document was developed to look at what improvements need to be made to the Queanbeyan traffic network between 2009 and 2031.
The document made a number of recommendations, including:
-
The four laning of Old Cooma Road to the new suburb of Googong,
-
The construction of the two lane extension of the Edwin Land Parkway to join up with Old Cooma Road
-
The two lane extension of Ellerton Drive to join up with Old Cooma Road and the Edwin Land Parkway extension.
-
Upgrading Monaro Street to four lanes in the Atkinson Street – Queens Bridge area
Council also decided that a further report be provided to Council on the development of a broader Queanbeyan Transport Strategy to accommodate the Googong and Tralee Traffic Study (2031), the proposed construction of Dunns Creek Road (including public consultation, identifying the preferred route, costings and a timetable for land acquisition and construction) and a range of transport issues.
