CBD Master Plan

Queanbeyan City Council’s adopted the CBD Master Plan – Final Report October 2009 at its meeting on Wednesday 11 November 2009.

The CBD Master Plan is an important document for Queanbeyan’s future as it sets the strategic framework for much-needed improvements to our city’s centre. This is a long-term project for Council and the plan is split into three stages of works taking in the area bound by Erin and Antill Streets to the north, Carinya and Collett Streets to the east, Rutledge Street in the south and Lowe Street to the west.

The first stage of the CBD Master Plan was completed in 2012 when the Crawford St Lifestyle Precinct was constructed. The Precinct turned an unattractive area of the CBD into a pedestrian-friendly area with wide footpaths to accommodate alfresco dining and the reduction of traffic from four lanes to two.

Stage two of the CBD Master Plan will be undertaken between 2013-14 and 2015-16 and will focus on the entrances to be CBD at Lowe and Collett Sts, Monaro St, Morisset St and Queen Elizabeth Park. Stage two is in its early stages with a consultant engaged to prepare concept designs for the river frontage along Collett St. Landscaping work has commenced along Monaro St.
