Queanbeyan City Council provides a broad range of recreational opportunities and community based services, to residents and visitors, through its network of parks and facilities. Parks and Recreation is strongly committed to promoting leisure and recreation facilities and services, with an equity of access to the whole community.
Parks and Recreation is responsible for the development, provision and maintenance of Queanbeyan’s parks, gardens, bushland reserves, showground, street trees, playgrounds, sports grounds, aquatic centre, cemeteries and much more. Queanbeyan City Council works close with the community to establish strong community ownership of recreational facilities, through volunteer groups and working parties like Friends of the Showground, the Sports Council and working closely with local schools.
