Local and Family History
The Queanbeyan City Library maintains a local and family history research collection. The collection consists of several smaller collections including:
- The Sheedy Memorial Local History Collection
- A small general genealogy collection
- The research notes of Mr Errol Lea-Scarlett
- The collection of Frederick J. McCauley
- A small map collection
- Some historic monographs from the old Queanbeyan School of Art
- A small collection of Queanbeyan ephemera and regalia Photographic Collection
Queanbeyan History and Heritage Network
The Queanbeyan City Library convenes a local history network group, the Queanbeyan History and Heritage Network

Queanbeyan Historical Museum
The Queanbeyan Historical Museum was established in 1969. It's housed in the historic Police Sergeant's Residence (1876) at 10 Farrer Pl. The museum is operated by members of the Queanbeyan and District Historical Museum Society and the Queanbeyan City Council.

Community Based Heritage Study
A community based heritage study was undertaken by Council in 2001. The purpose of the study was to investigate, research and list places and items of potential heritage significance outside the existing heritage conservation areas of Queanbeyan.
