Membership

Joining the Library

 Membership is free to all members of the public. Just come into the library with proof of your name and current address, such as driver’s licence, rates notice, rent receipt or official letter. A card will be issued and you will be able to begin borrowing immediately. Children under 16 need a parent or guardian to join them up. Parents or guardians need to provide proof of address as above and a document such as a Medicare card linking them to the child.

Temporary Membership

For people not residing permanently in Queanbeyan, a temporary card can be issued. Temporary borrowers may borrow up to six items with a limit of two DVDs, CDs and talking books. The loan period for all items is two weeks. Temporary membership will be reviewed after two months.

Renewals

Items can be renewed in person at the library, by telephone (62856255) please quote your library card number, or online (your password is your date of birth ddmmyy). Most items can be renewed up to 3 times with the exception of DVD’s, videos and toys which can be renewed twice and HSC material which cannot be renewed.

If items are needed for longer periods you will need to bring the item into the library and request further renewals from library staff.

If a reserve has been placed on an item it cannot be renewed.

Member Account Queries

To find out what books you have on loan or to update your details you can do so online (your password is your date of birth ddmmyy). You can also phone the library on 6285 6255.

Fines and Charges

Overdue fines are charged at approximately $1 per week per item. There is a $2 charge for replacement cards. Inter-library-loans cost $3.30 or $13.20 (depending on lending library). Lost or damaged books have a replacement cost + $5 processing charge.
