Children's Services

The Queanbeyan City Library provides a range of activities and services for children of all ages.

Toddlers

  • Toddler Time - A story-time session for 2-3-year-old children held every second Monday during school terms.

Please come to the library to register your child, or you can download the registration form here, complete, print out and bring to the library.

Preschoolers

  • Story-time - Story-time sessions are held during the school term. Sessions are held Tues–Thurs at 10am. Each session consists of stories, a video and craft activity. It runs for approximately one hour. Children need to be aged between 3 and 5. Bookings are essential. Please come into the library to register your child or you can download the registration form here, complete, print out and bring to the library.
  • Booked Out Magazine - Monthly children’s magazine full of jokes, craft, puzzles and colouring in. Copies are available from the front counter of the Library.

Primary school kids

  • Book Buzz Club - An after school book club, for children aged 6-12, is held on the last Thursday of each month from 3:30. Snacks are provided! There are books to borrow then read and review and a craft session. No need to register.
  • Holiday Craft Activities - Craft activity sessions are held during the school holidays. A small charge applies. Bookings are essential. Please phone 62856238 for more details.
  • Summer Reading Club - This is a national event which occurs over the summer school holidays. It is aimed to encourage literacy and reading during the holidays. Pick up your bag of goodies from the information desk.
  • Premier’s Reading Challenge - The library holds a number of books on the Premier’s Reading Challenge List.

 

Children's library collection

The Queanbeyan Library holds resources for children of all ages. The collection includes: picture books, graded readers, fiction books, information books, stories on CD, reading kits with a book and CD, music CDs and DVDs.

Toy library

The library has a collection of toys including, puzzles, games, baby toys, educational toys etc. Two toys per junior card may be borrowed for a period of two weeks.

 

E-Books

A collection of animated talking story books plus games and puzzles.

  

A primary-aged reading program with an online library of stories, videos, puzzles, comics, jokes, poems and puzzles.
