Neighbour Aid

The Neighbour Aid program aims to meet a person’s need for social support. Assistance is provided by trained volunteers - either in a person’s home or in the community. Neighbour Aid Services are tailored to meet the needs of individuals and carers. Some of the services provided may include:
  • Home visiting to have a cuppa, chat, game of cards, read or write letters.
  • Someone to go with a person to pay bills, shopping etc.
  • Telephone contact.
  • Someone to go with a person to social and recreational events.
  • Group programs/outings.
Neighbour Aid Social Group Outings

Mystery Trip Outings - for men and women over 65, or younger people with a disability, who require opportunities to participate in social interaction and who reside within the Queanbeyan area. Group runs every second Tuesday and last Friday of the month. This program provides social opportunities designed to assist active community participation for those who have difficulty accessing social groups.
  • The group travels on a Community Transport bus to various venues and places of interest throughout Queanbeyan, Canberra and surrounding areas
  • The bus picks up and drops off group members from their homes. There is a minimal fee for transport
  • Lunch is available at venues on the outings and cost is at the individuals expense
  • Independence is promoted and maintained within the group
  • An assessment is conducted to determine eligibility
  • Group times vary dependant on location of venue- usually 9.30am to 3pm.
